My executive coach rewired my brain with one sentence (and it wasn't what you'd expect)!

"There is no right and wrong" (the lesson that broke my brain)

When I hit VP level at my Fortune 100 company, I was gifted an executive coach from outside the company. Her name was Amy.

Amy was... not what I expected. Hard. Rough around the edges. No-nonsense in a way that made me squirm a little. We were complete opposites - me still in my trying to please everyone era, her cutting straight through the BS.

But Amy taught me a lot & said one sentence to me that literally rewired my brain. Something I think about almost daily, a decade later.

She told me: "There is no right and wrong. There are just different rights."

Mind. Blown.

Think about it. Paleo vs. keto vs. plant-based - they're not right and wrong diets. They're different paths that work for different people. Same with how you parent, how you work, how you love, how you live.

All those years I'd been torturing myself trying to find the "right" way to do everything. The right career move. The right relationship choice. The right morning routine.

What if there was never a wrong choice to begin with? What if there were just different paths, each leading somewhere valuable?

This one reframe freed me from so much perfectionist paralysis. It gave me permission to trust my own choices instead of constantly second-guessing myself against some imaginary "right" standard.

Amy was one in a series of women who completely shifted how I see the world. Each one taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way.

Stay tuned - I'll be sharing more of these stories with you. Because sometimes the most unexpected teachers give us exactly what we need to hear.

What's one belief someone completely flipped for you? Hit reply and tell me.

PS Amy was the first person to give this Marianne Williamson quote to me & I shared it in my Modern Mystic Membership today as we spoke about Visibility and wanted to beam it to you too. It always fills me up with full body chills (the good kind)!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
